Notice the photo above? Yes, that’s what I call, as well as most people I know, a junk drawer. They seem to be ubiquitous in most households that I’ve ever been in, and like myself, the homeowners do nothing but complain about having one.
I’ve thought about this for a long time. I think it would be interesting for my readers to hear other voices. Of course my main interest is atheism and skepticism, I also write about other topics that happen to capture my attention at the time. I don;t receive a hge number of xomments, but of those I do, they are thoughtful and well considered whether they agree with me or not.
Just a quick thought for today. I didn’t blog for the last 2 days, I was a bit under the weather. Nothing bad, but as everyone knows, you just become less amenable to do those tasks that are not imminent than otherwise. I did start, then stop during that time a couple of posts but because the OTC medicine I was taking, I couldn’t place two thoughts in sequence.
Lately, I’ve been attempting to discover how to increase the clicks on this site. I’m not generally disappointed, I don’t have the reach of others that have been writing for a lot longer than I have, and I realize it takes some amount of time – years even – to build a loyal readership.
As usual, I was going to write on another topic when I read a piece over at Atheist Revolution. Another well regarded atheist blogger is hanging it up. Yep, he’s decided he no longer has the time to blog anymore. It’s really too bad.
On and off the last couple of weeks, I’ve been having an online discussion with another atheist blogger concerning what seemed to me a sudden decline of viewership over several weeks the summer. It was explained to me that, at least for him, it was normal and that during peak summer months, he too has seen a decline in views.
I’ve written about social media a bit here and I pretty much have the same opinion of it as I always have: It’s not a place I want to hang out on much because of the type of people that seem to spend their entire day there complaining about one thing or another. Or, as with a few people, I seem to get to know everything they do, every moment of their day and I really don’t need to know that much about someone I’ve never met in person.
Is it time for all of us to take a second look at social media and how we all use it? Maybe. I’ve been on Twitter since 2011 and although I left for a while (because I became an addict) I still find these platforms as useful. I see a lot of diverse opinions about everything political and social and to be honest, even though I may not agree with a particular persons take on something, it makes me stop and think.
Heh. It seems lately I start to write on a topic and then a few paragraphs in, decide that I really don’t want to write on that particular subject. Sometimes it’s because I can’t really decide where I want to go with it, but most of the time, it just seems like we’ve all seen this again and again and as an atheist, I’d like to find something new to discuss.
I originally had a different subject to publish today. I decided not to because I know that what I had written would come across as inflammatory to some and that wasn’t my original intention. Sometimes though, a person has to speak plainly and I think that many of us do not do that on a regular basis.
